The Monday morning observation is based on the agency’s daily overflights of the flow, which is advancing toward Pahoa.
There is no risk of brush fire, though the burning of vegetation along its edges was producing a significant amount of smoke, according to Civil Defense.
Hawaiian Volcano Observatory said the flow has advanced 590 yards since it resumed its advance last Wednesday.
The next community meeting on the flow will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Pahoa High School cafeteria.
A lava information center remains open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at Pahoa Community Center.
